KYIV - An overnight Russian drone attack on Kyiv injured a woman and burned a recreation centre in the capital's northeastern, Ukrainian officials said early on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to Kyiv's sprawling Desnianskyi district where debris from a destroyed drone sparked a fire at the recreation building and injured the woman, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a post on Telegram messaging app.
Head of Kyiv's military administration, Timur Tkachenko, said that air defence systems were deployed just before 1 a.m. local time (2200 GMT on Monday) to try to repel the attack.
Reuters' witnesses heard a series of blasts in the city.
The scale of the attack was not known. There was no immediate comment from Russia.
Last week, Russia pounded the Ukrainian capital with missiles and drones, killing at least 12 people and drawing a rare rebuke from U.S. President Donald Trump who said his administration was pressuring Russia to stop the war that is now in its fourth year.
