Turkish football expert reads out Osimhen's ridiculous defensive stats in his latest praise of the Nigerian.
Turkish football analyst Ilker Yagcioglu was full of praise for Victor Osimhen, stressing the defensive part of the Nigerian's game, which he believes has gone understated.
The 26-year-old has scored 31 goals for the Cim-Bom this season and is leading their ambition to a league and cup double. While he has received praise for his offensive qualities, for Yagcioglu, Osimhen's defensive output has been as impressive.
What he said
Galatasaray beat Eyuspor, and despite Alvaro Morata's brace, Osimhen was the standout performer. Not only did he score and assist, but his defensive numbers were monstrous.
"Last year, the one with Icardi won; this year, the one with Osimhen won," Yagcioglu said, per GsGazette. "Galatasaray fans will never forget Osimhen's contribution 20-25 years ago.
"They will say, 'What a play he made! He disrupted all the balances.' The offensive side of the game aside. He made 4 clearances, blocked 2 shots, and intercepted 2 passes. What does this mean?
"He also helped the defence. The guy already scores goals like crazy, and he also helps the defence. His defensive statistics are the same as Torreira's. He won 11 of 15 duels. Having such a player is probably something every coach dreams of."
Meanwhile, former Super Eagles skipper John Mikel Obi spoke about the potential future of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen.
The former Chelsea midfielder has made it apparent that he wants the Napoli loanee to join his former side, as he yearns for a Drogba-esque striker in Chelsea's attack.
