17th Headies: Drama as Next Rated Odumodublvck refuses to leave stage (Video)

Rapper, Odumodublvck caused a stir at the 17th Headies Awards ceremony held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, on Sunday, after he refused to exit the stage after receiving his award for the Next Rated.

Odumodublvck, who stormed the stage with his mother and over 10 men, had his microphone cut off midway into his acceptance speech and asked to leave the stage to enable the organisers manage time but he declined.

The organisers were forced to restore his microphone connection to allow him finish his speech.

"Against all odds, I have pushed against so many barriers like this. Couple of years back, there were so many feelings we could not express through our music.

"The world world clap us down; 'you can't be this,' or 'you can't speak like,' 'you can't do this,' 'you can't release music in this way.'

"Me standing here today, is a proof that all those things are fallacies. It only would have been possible through my Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, who have been there for me through thick and thin. Tonight, God has shown that God reigns," the rapper said after his microphone was restored.

Odumodublvck defeated his frequent collaborator Shallipopi, Qing Madi, Ayo Maff and Nasboi to win the keenly contested Next Rated category.

The award was presented to him by Afrobeats ace, Davido.

The Headies next Rated award comes with a car prize.

We recall that last year Odumodublvck got a prize of house in Lagos after winning the Rookie of the Year award at the 16th Headies, which was held in Atlanta Georgia.
