Inter Miami forward, Lionel Messi, watched on from the sidelines as the team threw away a two-goal lead to lose 4-3 to FC Dallas on Sunday.
Messi and other key starters were rested for the home fixture.
Manager Javier Mascherano opted to leave Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez out, ahead of their CONCACAF Champions Cup tie midweek.
Mascherano's decision saw Miami beaten for the first time in the 2025 MLS season, after wasting a 3-1 lead.
They now sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 18 points.
After the game, Mascherano took full responsibility for the loss.
"It's not easy," he said after the match.
"We played a very good game for 65 minutes and managed to come back, but unfortunately, I made a mistake in reading the match, and in the end, I couldn't help the players.
"I made some decisions that weren't right."
