How Trump Is Reshaping India's Trade and Defense Ties With the US

The US and India have been edging closer for years. Washington sees India as a key regional counterweight against a more assertive China, while for New Delhi, the US has become an increasingly important source of foreign investment and a partner for trade and security.

The relationship between the two countries has only deepened since President Donald Trump returned to the Oval Office. Following a visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the White House in early February, both sides vowed to dramatically ramp up their cooperation in trade, national defense and technology sharing.
