Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has yet to make the most of his Manchester United connections since taking charge of the Foxes.
Van Nistelrooy was arguably handed the Leicester job on the back of two big victories in charge of Man United against them as interim boss, a successful job interview if you will.
However, unfortunately for Leicester and the Dutchman, there's been very little to celebrate since.
Leicester confirmed their relegation to the Championship last weekend after losing to Liverpool, a club who will now have to rebuild once again.
And whilst it remains to be seen if Van Nistelrooy stays in charge, the Leicester manager is thought to be finally looking to use his United connections ahead of next season. |
Ruud van Nistelrooy wants to sign Harry Amass on loan
According to Give Me Sport, Leicester are interested in taking United youngster Harry Amass on loan next season.
Ruben Amorim handed Amass a start against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend alongside Tyler Fredricson.
And now United are braced for loan interest in Amass who might have been hoping to stay and win the left wing-back role at Old Trafford.
According to the report, 'influential figures' at United are anticipating contact from the Championship for Amass' services next season.
And at the front of the queue, Leicester are very keen to win the race following their relegation from the Premier League.
Van Nistelrooy has experimented with a wing-back system at the King Power recently, using Victor Kristiansen in the role.
But Amass would undoubtedly be better suited to the attacking demands of the role, a 'powerful' wing-back going forwards.
Ruben Amorim's Harry Amass verdict
Speaking after Amass made his Premier League debut against Newcastle United earlier this month, Amorim potentially explained why so many sides might be vying for the youngster's services on loan next season.
Amorim praised the 18-year-old for how he coped with the pressure of playing at St James' Park, a youngster who clearly has the potential to play at the top level.
Discussing Amass' display, Amorim said: "I think he did quite well.
"He caught a player that is really fast, he debuted in maybe one of the hardest stadiums with one team that is in a good moment.
"I think he did really well. He needs to continue and we need to help all these young kids to perform in a higher level."
