US: DOGE cancels contracts worth $3.3bn

US billionaire, Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, has announced the termination of 63 wasteful contracts worth $3.3 billion.

DOGE disclosed this in a statement released on its X account on Tuesday.

According to DOGE, among the cancelled contracts is a $85.5k for the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

The US agency also noted that the cancellations have resulted in savings of $2.6Billion for the country.

"Agencies terminated 180 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $3.3B and savings of $2.6B, including a $85.5K @EPA contract for "live plant maintenance services" (the internal EPA team will water them going forward) and a $265.5K
@HHSGov contract for "social media monitoring subscription, training, and platform setup," DOGE tweeted.

This is coming some days after DOGE terminated 63 wasteful contracts worth $124 million.
