Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by French side Lyon in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night.

The hosts took the lead in France when United goalkeeper Andre Onana misjudged Thiago Almada's free-kick, before young defender Leny Yoro levelled the tie with his first goal for the Red Devils.

Joshua Zirkzee then looked to have earned Ruben Amorim's side a crucial first leg lead when he put them in front late on, but Lyon drew level in the closing stages when Rayan Cherki pounced on another Onana mistake.

Onana has made a number of high profile errors ever since joining United from Inter Milan in 2023, and it appears that those in charge of the club are now on the hunt for a new goalkeeper.

According to Calciomercato via GiveMeSport, the Manchester club have approached Brighton and Hove Albion about a potential move for Bart Verbruggen.

United were previously interested in the Dutchman prior to his 2023 move to Brighton, during his spell with former side Anderlecht.

He ultimately joined the Seagulls, though, and has been in fine form on the south coast since.

In total Verbruggen has played 60 times for Brighton across all competitions, keeping 15 clean sheets.

Verbruggen has played 33 times across all competitions this season, starting Brighton's last 29 Premier League matches.

The Netherlands international is under contract at The Amex until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but the report suggests that United are hoping to lure the 'keeper to Manchester during the upcoming summer transfer window.

German giants Bayern Munich and Italian outfit AC Milan are also said to have shown interest in the Dutchman, as the two European sides look to bolster their own goalkeeping options this summer.
