President Donald Trump headed to Florida Thursday and gave a sunny outlook when asked 'how it's going' after markets crashed thanks to his reciprocal tariff announcement.
'I think it's going very well. It was an operation. Like when a patient gets operated on and it's a big thing. I said this would exactly be the way it is,' the president told reporters on the South Lawn.
He claimed that 'six or seven trillion' dollars would be coming into country.
By lunchtime the Dow had dropped 1,400 points.
'The markets are going to boom, the stock is going to boom, the country is going to boom and the rest of the world wants to see if there's any way they can make a deal,' the president continued.
He then complained: 'They've taken advantage of us for many, many years.'
'You'll see how it's going to turn out, our country's going to boom,' he reiterated.
Trump then walked solo to Marine One, followed by Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and his body man Walt Nauta.
Trotting behind them was embattled National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, who had three staffers fired Thursday after right-wing MAGA figure Laura Loomer got in Trump's ear and called for National Security Council firings.
Trump is headed to his Trump National Doral Miami where he'll appear at a dinner kickoff for a LIV Golf event.
The president explained to reporters that the dinner was for 'charity' and he would be back to Washington 'pretty quickly.'
