Rivers: The People Even Supporting Fubara Today Are People That Kicked Against Him- Yakubu Datti

Former Commissioner for Information in Plateau State, Yakubu Datti, has pointed out that those currently supporting Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, were initially opposed to his emergence when he was selected by Nyesom Wike.

During an interview with Arise TV, Datti criticized those condemning President Bola Tinubu for not taking action against Wike, following the suspension of governor Fubara by the president.

He argued that many of the individuals calling for Wike's removal are doing so to undermine Tinubu by targeting his top-performing ministers.

According to him, this opposition is driven by political calculations ahead of the 2027 elections, with critics focusing on high-performing ministers to weaken the president's administration.

Datti emphasized that both Fubara and about 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were products of Wike's political influence. He noted that many of Fubara's current supporters were once against him when Wike initially introduced him, as he was seen as an unexpected choice.

He said, "Most of the people that are calling for his head want to hit at President Tinubu's star-performing minister; he is performing creditably. And it is all about 2027, so the only way to shoot down Tinubu is, let's look at his ministers, let's look for the high performers and shoot them down. In the first place, both Fubara and the 27 members of the House of Assembly are all creations of Nyesom Wike; he was the one that brought them. In fact, the people that are even supporting Fubara today are the people that kicked against Fubara when he was brought in by Nyesom Wike because he was just like out of the blues."
