Chelsea are reportedly preparing the sale of two players to improve their purchasing power for a striker in the summer.
According to reports, Chelsea want a striker next summer but have to make some sales to enable them to finance the deal, and they have identified two players to fulfil this goal.
Chelsea striker search
The Blues were famously in the striker market last summer. They negotiated for Victor Osimhen until the last day of the transfer window, and they reached full agreement with Atletico Madrid for Samu Omorodion before reneging on the deal.
They were quiet on that front in the January transfer window, but some weeks back, Blues boss Todd Boehly referenced their activity in the transfer market.
Also, Chelsea legend Mikel Obi assured that the club would return for Osimhen; hence, the Blues are expected to make a major effort to sign a striker in the summer. However, they have to make some moves to afford strikers of desirable quality.
The plan
According to Team Talk, per Fan Cast, the Blues are hoping to sell Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix in the summer, as well as save their wages, which totals about £345, 000 a week.
Felix is currently on loan at AC Milan. Although he had a bright start, he has since petered off. Hence, it is unlike the Rossoneri will be willing to take on his £130, 000 wages, given their financial situation.
Sterling, on the other hand, has only managed to shine in pockets for Arsenal in his season-long loan spell there. There were suggestions that the Gunners contemplated terminating his contract in January. Hence, it is unlikely they will sign him permanently.
