The uncertainty surrounding the whereabouts of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has sparked growing concerns among elders and stakeholders in the state.
In an interview on Arise TV, Rivers elders demanded that the governor make a public appearance, expressing fears that he could be in danger.
"We are demanding that Fubara come on television if he is alive. Because we have observed that Nyesom Wike can go any length and Mr. President is backing him.
They can do anything to this young man. Rivers people demand to know his whereabouts and to know what is happening to him," a spokesperson for the elders stated.
This alarming statement has fueled speculation about the governor's safety, as tensions in Rivers State's political landscape continue to escalate.
The rift between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, has been well-documented, with reports of a power struggle that has divided the state's political leadership.
The elders' fears are rooted in the ongoing political crisis where Fubara has faced opposition from lawmakers and political figures aligned with Wike who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Some believe that the federal government's silence on the matter suggests complicity, raising further concerns.
As demands for clarity increase, Rivers residents and political observers are calling on Governor Fubara to address the public and put an end to the growing uncertainty.
So far, there has been no official statement from the state government regarding his whereabouts, leaving many unanswered questions.
The situation remains tense with Rivers people anxiously awaiting any sign of their governor.
