In Group A, Sierra Leone thrashed Guinea-Bissau 3-1 in Freetown. Mustapha Bundu and Musa Noah Kamara gave the hosts the lead, before Tamble Ulisses Folgado Monteiro pulled one back.
But Ibrahim Turay struck in added time to ensure the Leona Stars took all three points.
In Group C, Zimbabwe played out a 2-2 draw with Benin Republic.
In Group D, Cape Verde edged Mauritius 1-0, with the winner scored in the 84th minute by Yannick Semedo. Libya were held to a 1-1 draw by Angola.
In Group F, Gabon thrashed Seychelles 3-0, while Gambia played out a 3-3 draw with Kenya.
Mozambique defeated Uganda 3-1 in Group G and Nambia won 1-0 away at Malawi in Group H.
