According to Aljazeera, despite intensified Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, Hamas remains open to negotiations, a senior official has stated.
Taher al-Nono, a Hamas official, emphasized that the group has not abandoned the prospect of talks but sees no need for additional agreements.
"Hamas has not closed the door on negotiations, but we insist there is no need for new agreements, he told the AFP news agency from Cairo.
He also urged international actors to pressure Israel into implementing an existing ceasefire agreement.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, al-Nono questioned why Hamas should offer new proposals when a ceasefire agreement is already in place.
"Why do we have to present new proposals while a signed ceasefire agreement exists, with international parties acting as guarantors, he asked.
Al-Nono accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of reneging on the ceasefire, stating, "It was Netanyahu that has backed down on the agreement, It was Netanyahu who turned a blind eye to it.
Therefore, it is Netanyahu, not Hamas or the Palestinian resistance, that should be pressured to comply.
He further criticized Israeli military actions, arguing that they lack justification. "They continue to breach the agreement they had signed, he concluded.
