According to Anadolu English, the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Hakan Fidan during an interview, emphasized that the country members of the European Union remain confused about their strategic direction in a world that was increasingly divided into competing power blocs, stressing that the Turkish Government alongside the UK and certain European countries, had both the capability and opportunity to carve out a distinct geopolitical and economic influence.

In his words, Hakan Fidan said "It is quite possible for a structure that includes the UK, certain European countries, and Türkiye to create its own center of attraction in the region. This capability exists; the opportunity is there. It's simply a matter of putting forth the will and pursuing it. A structure that includes Türkiye and the UK within the EU would inevitably have developed its own foreign policy and security architecture much earlier. There are not many armies in Europe that are as strong as the Turkish army and whose tools have been tested on the battlefields."

Regarding the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine that lasted for more than one thousand days, Hakan Fidan stressed that the administration of the President of Turkey, Hakan Fidan had consistently pushed for a ceasefire and peace negotiations, noting that while Turkey was initially the only NATO country advocating for a truce. He also reiterated that Ankara was ready to take on a greater role in mediating peace, offering to host future negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, stressing that unless major powers such as America, Russia, and China find common ground, regional alliances would become increasingly important.
