Primate Elijah Ayodele, the founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has made a striking forecast about fuel prices in Nigeria. In a recent post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Ayodele predicted that the current price of petrol, which is around N1,030 per liter at NNPC stations and can go up to N1,150 at other stations, will decrease significantly before the end of 2025. He added that the price could potentially drop to as low as N500 per liter.
Ayodele's forecast comes at a time when there are rising concerns about the economic effects of soaring fuel prices in the country. Nigerians have been enduring worsening conditions due to the elevated cost of petrol, which has led to higher transportation expenses and increased prices for goods and services. The fuel price surge has been linked to various factors, such as global oil price changes and domestic supply chain problems. Despite these challenges, Ayodele's remarks provide a sense of optimism for a significant recovery in the near future, although many remain doubtful about such a sharp decline.
