Bishop David Oyedepo, who is the General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has provided a compelling testimony about how, in July 1976, he was attending a worship service in an Anglican Church when he was given a profound revelation regarding the mystery of the Holy Communion.
When Bishop Oyedepo was speaking during the Midweek Communion Service, he recalled that he was present in the congregation when one of the priests came up to read the lesson for the day, which was taken from John 6:48-58. His account suggests that it was precisely at that time that he came face to face with the reality of Jesus Christ in a different dimension.
"When I was attending a worship service in an Anglican church many years ago, one of the priests came up in his uniform and read the lesson for the day, which was John 6:48-58. It was almost as if Jesus had entered the sanctuary, is that correct? I was familiar with that passage of scripture, but on that particular day, I was able to hear God speaking to me directly," he explained.
In his description of the event, Bishop Oyedepo referred to it as a spiritual awakening that compelled him to seek a more profound comprehension. "When I first became aware of the mystery of the communion, that was the day that my eyes were opened. At the beginning of my search for information regarding it, I came across Smith Wigglesworth's testimony regarding the effectiveness of the communion," he disclosed.
In spite of the fact that the individual who was reading the scripture might not have been reborn, he emphasized that the Holy Spirit communicated with him in a direct manner. "While I was in the spirit, I recognised God's voice speaking to me through His Word. God is still having a voice in this day and age, but the question is, how many people are in the spirit?
Following his conclusion, Bishop Oyedepo urged believers to maintain their spiritual sensitivity, pointing out that divine encounters frequently occur through channels that are not expected.
