Ndubuisi, the only child of a widowed mother, was laid to rest on Friday, March 7, 2025.

The funeral ceremony was marked by tears and anguish.

It was gathered that the deceased was shot and k!lled on February 28, 2025, while assisting his mother to harvest cassava on their farm.

The Solar Energy technician was said to have gone to see his mother in Enugu State capital, where he was studying.

When he got home that very fateful day and found that the mother had gone to the farm in their farm settlement to harvest cassava, Ndubuisi, fondly called 'Ofunwa' (only child) decided to go to the farm to help her.

While working on the farm, they were ambushed by Fulani herdsmen, who shôt and k!lled Ndubuisi.

It was further gathered that his father had also been murdered by Fulani herdsmen in the community.

Confirming the incident, a community leader, Samuel Ede, told Newsmen that the murder of the promising young man was the height of the carnage that has been going on in Eha-Amufu since 2021.

"The boy, Donatus Ndubuisi, is studying here in Enugu and also working as a Solar Energy technician. So he went to his village, Amofia Umuhu Eha-Amufu. On his arrival he discovered that the mother had gone to their farm to harvest cassava. So, he decided to go to the farm to assist the mother harvest the cassava. He was harvesting the cassava with his mother when some Fulani herdsmen invaded the place," he said.

"So they started running and they shot him in the back and k!lled him. Unfortunately, the boy is the only son and only child of the widow. His father has d!ed and from information his father was also k!lled by the same Fulani herdsmen in the community."

It was gathered that the killing of Ndubuisi led to the heart-wrenching protest that erupted in Eha-Amufu, on Thursday, as thousands of women from seven autonomous communities took to the streets to condemn the k!lling of Ndubuisi, by Fulani herdsmen and also demonstrate against the senseless violence.
