A 500-level student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has captured the attention of social media after going viral for his determination to fund his education by riding an Okada (motorcycle).
The student, who is studying statistics, is using his earnings from the Okada job to pay for his school fees in a bid to complete his degree.
The viral moment unfolded when the student gave a ride to Kopa Respect, a popular Nigerian content creator known for his humorous pranks about life as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
During the ride, Kopa Respect attempted to prank the student by pretending to be unable to pay for the service.
Unaware that he was being pranked, the FUTA student insisted that payment was required.
It was during this interaction that the student shared his story, revealing that he rides the Okada to support himself financially, as he has no one else to rely on for help.
Moved by the student's determination, Kopa Respect decided to lend a hand, offering both financial assistance and moral support to help him continue his education.
Reflecting on the encounter, Kopa Respect took to social media to highlight the student's resilience.
He wrote;
"It's easy to judge people as selfish just because they refuse to part with their money, no matter how little. But behind every decision, there's a story. Here is a fighter- a young man navigating an uncertain system, striving to put himself through school by riding a commercial bike. His struggle isn't about greed; it's about survival and determination.
"Dear Nigerian Government. working hard to earn an education is one thing; facing the uncertainty of life after graduation is another. When a system offers no clear path, what becomes of those who sacrificed everything for a degree. Here is a fighter-riding a commercial bike just to put himself through school, determined to secure a better future. But beyond the classroom lies an even bigger challenge: what does the system have in store for him after graduation?"
