United States President, Donald Trump has announced that the top suspect behind the 2021 Abbey Gate attack in Afghanistan that killed 13 US service members has been arrested.

Trump disclosed this during his speech before a joint Congress on Tuesday.

"Tonight, I am pleased to announce that we have just apprehended the top terrorist responsible for that atrocity.

"And he is right now on his way here to face the swift sword of American justice."

Fox News reports that the suspect was identified as Muhammed Sharifullah.

The US President also thanked the government of Pakistan for helping arrest this "monster."

According to him, "This was a very momentous day for those 13 families, who I actually got to know very well."
