According to the report from Ukraine's Pravda, President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused the United States of trying to appease Russian President Vladimir Putin in an attempt to secure a quick diplomatic breakthrough.
In an interview with German broadcaster ARD, he argued that Washington's approach is misguided and that a ceasefire alone does not equal success.
"The problem is that the U.S. is saying things that really appeal to Putin," Zelensky stated. "That seems to be their goal-to please him. Why? To meet face-to-face and claim a quick success. But what they want is just a ceasefire, and that is not success."
Zelensky made it clear that Ukraine will not surrender its land or sign agreements just for the sake of international approval. He reiterated that any resolution must ensure Ukraine's sovereignty and long-term security, not just pause the conflict temporarily.
His comments come amid growing international discussions on potential peace negotiations.
While some Western nations push for diplomatic solutions, Zelensky remains firm that Ukraine will not accept any deal that compromises its territorial integrity or rewards Russia for its aggression.
