Man United have to consider selling Andre Onana after another horror display vs Ipswich Town

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United secured a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town in an intense Premier League match at Old Trafford.

Ipswich struck first when Jaden Philogene found the net in the 4th minute. However, United responded quickly, benefiting from an own goal by Sam Morsy before Matthijs de Ligt put them ahead. The match took a dramatic turn when Patrick Dorgu was sent off for a reckless studs-up challenge on Hutchinson just before halftime.

Despite being down to ten men, Ipswich equalized before the break through Philogene. United, however, reclaimed their advantage shortly after the restart when Harry Maguire rose highest to connect with a well-delivered set-piece from captain Bruno Fernandes. From that point, the Red Devils defended well, limiting Ipswich's attacking opportunities.

While Patrick Dorgu and Rasmus Hojlund faced criticism for their below-par performances, Andre Onana also came under fire for his unconvincing goalkeeping. He was involved in the miscommunication with Dorgu that led to Ipswich's first goal, making a poor decision to rush out of his six-yard box despite Dorgu already having a head start. The defender also shared some blame for the mix-up.

Onana's troubles continued when he failed to deal with Philogene's cross, which resulted in a goal. He appeared unsettled by Delap's presence, even though the striker never actually touched the ball.

The situation raises concerns about Manchester United's goalkeeping choices. Former manager Erik ten Hag had prioritized a ball-playing goalkeeper, which led to David de Gea's departure. However, "after nearly a decade of carrying United on his back, De Gea undoubtedly deserved a far better farewell."

United's goalkeeping issues are now a growing problem. "It is embarrassing for United that Onana has struggled to consistently showcase his ball-playing abilities since arriving at Old Trafford." The £29 million-rated goalkeeper has made too many errors, causing frustration among fans. Against Ipswich, he completed just nine accurate passes out of 27 and managed only one save.

Additionally, Onana failed to operate as a sweeper-keeper at any point in the match. While United remain focused on signing a striker, securing a more reliable goalkeeper is becoming just as vital. "The Red Devils simply cannot afford to rely on a shot-stopper prone to costly blunders."
