During a recent sermon, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared a compelling testimony about the life-changing power of God's light. He recounted an incident from over 30 years ago at a program similar to the one he was speaking at.
In his narrative, Pastor Adeboye described how a young man, who was part of a notorious gang of highway robbers, attended the event carrying a revolver. As the service unfolded, the presence of God illuminated his heart, leading to a profound spiritual awakening. Convicted by the light of God, the young man surrendered his weapon, committed his life to Jesus, and turned away from his criminal lifestyle.
Days later, the gang embarked on another robbery mission, but the reformed young man refused to participate. Tragically, all members of the gang were killed during the operation, as their intended victims had been lying in wait. Had the young man not encountered God's light and repented, he would have met the same fate.
Pastor Adeboye used this story to deliver a powerful message, declaring, "I decree, in the name above every other name, that if you are currently heading in the wrong direction, the light of God will intervene and halt your journey!" He emphasized that God's light does not merely expose wrongdoing but redirects individuals from paths of destruction toward their divine purpose.
The pastor encouraged the congregation to welcome God's light into their lives, highlighting its ability to transform destinies, rescue people from peril, and guide them onto the right path. He prayed fervently for those lost in error, asking that they experience the same divine intervention that saved the young man decades ago. Through this testimony, he underscored the enduring power of God's light to change lives forever.
