Everton's hopes for a late win were dashed after a controversial penalty decision was overturned following a VAR review, as Manchester United staged a comeback to secure a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.

However, the real drama unfolded in stoppage time when referee Andy Madley awarded Everton a penalty after Ashley Young fell under pressure from Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire.
After a VAR check led by Matt Donohue, Madley was called to the pitchside monitor. The review focused on Maguire's contact rather than De Ligt's apparent shirt pull, and the referee ultimately reversed his decision.
"There is slight contact, the slightest, but [Young] has put his feet together and the way he fell down does not match the contact - the correct call," said former referee Mike Dean on Soccer Saturday.
Everton had looked dominant early on, with Beto continuing his impressive scoring streak by netting his fifth goal in four Premier League games after United's failure to clear a corner.
Abdoulaye Doucoure doubled the lead shortly after, heading in a rebound from Jack Harrison's shot.
United struggled in the first half, failing to register a shot on target until the 42nd minute. But Fernandes' well-placed free-kick and Ugarte's late goal turned the tide.
