Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian music star Mohbad, has opened up about the early days of her relationship with the singer, recounting how their love story began on the social media platform 2Go.
In a recent interview with TVC, Wunmi revealed that they first crossed paths when she was just 13 years old, marking the beginning of a decade-long relationship that would eventually lead to marriage.
Reflecting on their youthful beginnings, Wunmi shared, "I met him when I was 13 on 2Go. That was 12 years ago. I used to be a rapper, and he sang, too, so we started as friends. We were very young then. He was 15. He proposed a relationship to me, and I accepted. We later got married and had a child together." The couple's journey from friendship to romance was marked by their shared passion for music and a deep connection that would grow over the years.
Tragically, Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away on September 12, 2023. His sudden death sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment industry and left many fans mourning the loss of a talented artist. In the aftermath of his passing, his father, Joseph Aloba, made the decision to bury him in Ikorodu, Lagos State, less than 24 hours after his death. However, controversy soon arose regarding the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's demise.
Due to the uncertainties and speculations regarding his death, Joseph Aloba ordered the exhumation of his son's body on September 21 for an autopsy. The results of this autopsy are still pending, and the family continues to seek clarity on the events leading to Mohbad's untimely passing. Joseph Aloba has stated that Mohbad's body will only be reburied once the autopsy results are released, alongside a DNA test for his grandson, Liam, to confirm his paternity.
In the wake of Mohbad's death, Wunmi has faced her share of challenges. She has publicly alleged that she was attacked by Naira Marley and his associates, further complicating the emotional landscape following her husband's death. Additionally, the ongoing controversy surrounding Mohbad's legacy has led to legal disputes, including a lawsuit against Mohbad's mother, in which Prime Boy is demanding N50 million in damages for alleged defamation.
Amidst the turmoil, Wunmi remains focused on her son, Liam, who was born from her marriage to Mohbad. The young boy's resemblance to his late father has been a topic of discussion, with Joseph Aloba previously stating that Liam does not resemble Mohbad. This has only intensified the family's quest for answers and closure during this difficult time.
