Man City handed timely £41m boost by FIFA after crashing out of the UEFA Champions League

Manchester City's early exit from the Champions League has resulted in a considerable financial setback for the club, according to Daily Express.

Their defeat by Real Madrid, which saw them eliminated in the round of 16 for the first time since 2013, ended their hopes of advancing further in the prestigious competition.

The aggregate score was 6-3 in favor of Madrid, with Kylian Mbappe's hat-trick in the second leg sealing City's fate.

The club's exit means they forgo £9.3 million in prize money from UEFA, in addition to missing out on the opportunity to earn up to £44 million more as they advanced.

However, City's participation in FIFA's revamped Club World Cup next summer will help mitigate the financial blow. FIFA has committed £41 million to the 32 teams involved, with the possibility of even greater earnings if City wins the tournament.

To further offset this loss, Manchester City has been active in the transfer market. In January, they secured several new signings, including Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, and Abdukodir Khusanov.

The club also saw captain Kyle Walker depart for a loan move to AC Milan. Guardiola has hinted that more acquisitions are in the works, with players like Florian Wirtz and Andrea Cambiaso reportedly being targeted.

Despite the Champions League setback, Pep Guardiola reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City, signing a two-year contract extension last November.

In a statement to Movistar, Guardiola said, "Yes, yes, yes, I'm going to stay [at City]," emphasizing his long-term commitment to the club's success.
