AZ Alkmaar drew 2-2 with Galatasaray to eliminate the Turkish side from the competition on a scoreline of 6-3 as reported by Fotmob.
The hosts were unable to make history and become only the second side in Europa League history to progress after overcoming a three-goal deficit from the first leg.
They approached the game looking to attack at every opportunity, which lent perfectly to the counter-attack game plan adopted by AZ.
Galatasaray rode their luck throughout the first half as they managed to clear the ball off the line from Belic's effort in the 14th minute, a matter of seconds after a last-ditch tackle to deny Poku.
As the half edged towards the interval, a huge slice of luck gave AZ the lead.
Maikuma made it 1-0 in the 42nd minute, as he drove towards the six-yard box, he was challenged by a defender, and as he was tackled, the ball bounced off his leg and into the goal to give the visitors the lead at the break.
Shortly after the interval, the lead was doubled in the 55th minute.
Kasius took advantage of winning the ball high from the press, and as he shot from distance, he caught the keeper off guard to make it 2-0 to AZ.
A minute later, Osimhen had the ball in the net to make it 2-1 and give Galatasaray a lifeline.
The ball was floated forward by Torreira, and as it bounced on the penalty spot, the Nigerian striker met it on the half volley, and it flew past the keeper. The hosts brought the score level in the 70th minute on the night, with Sallai making it 2-2.
The winger slotted the ball home after Yilmaz managed to square the ball across the penalty area.
Galatasaray would continue to push for a third but would be lucky not to concede themselves as the match would finish 2-2 despite AZ hitting the post and bar late on.
