'What I Said When a General Overseer Asked Me Why I Give My Pastors So Much Privilege' - Suleman

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the founder and senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries International, recently addressed believers at the Recovery Conference, where he shared his perspective on leadership and empowerment in ministry.

According to him, Christianity is not a restrictive system where leaders impose absolute control over others. He recalled a conversation with a fellow General Overseer who questioned his approach to giving pastors in his ministry significant autonomy.

"Why do you give your pastors so much privilege, so much opportunity? Every pastor is like a General Overseer. They do what they want to do. You don't monitor them," the General Overseer asked.

Apostle Suleman responded, emphasizing that many structures in ministry are, in reality, a form of imprisonment rather than order. "Most of those things in ministry that we call structure are actually imprisonment!" he said.

He compared this issue to legal professionals who manipulate laws to serve their interests. "There are people who go to school to study law-to learn how to break the law," he noted, pointing out that rigid structures can sometimes lead to corruption rather than accountability.

The clergyman further revealed that his philosophy is rooted in divine instruction. "God told me something," he said, explaining that true ministry should focus on raising men for God rather than for personal allegiance.

"You know that spirit of 'In this ministry, we don't do this'? Now, that's a cult!" he warned, urging leaders to shift from control-based ministry to empowerment.

His final charge was clear: "Don't raise men to yourself; raise men to God!"
