Jose Mourinho has refused to choose between Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola as greatest manager.

Jose Mourinho has weighed in on the debate over who is the greatest manager of all time, Sir Alex Ferguson or Pep Guardiola.

Mourinho's comments come as Guardiola and Ferguson are often debated as the greatest managers of all time. While Guardiola has proven his success in the Premier League with Manchester City, Ferguson's longevity and record 13 league titles at Manchester United are unparalleled.

What Mourinho said

However, Mourinho refused to choose between the two, citing the impossibility of comparing different generations and circumstances.

Instead, the Portuguese tactician surprisingly gave credit to Claudio Ranieri, who he believes achieved the most incredible title win in Premier League history with Leicester City in 2016.

"Fergie or Pep? Oh, it's impossible to compare, it's impossible to compare generations. It's impossible to compare the potential to do things, you know," Mourinho said on The Obi One Podcast.

He continued, "To win the league with Leicester is unique. For me, it's the most incredible title.

Ranieri's achievement with Leicester, is considered one of the greatest sporting upsets of all time. Despite his statistics being inferior to both Guardiola and Ferguson, Ranieri's title win with Leicester is widely regarded as one of the most impressive managerial achievements in history.

Mourinho's refusal to choose between Guardiola and Ferguson is a nod to the greatness of both managers, while also giving credit to Ranieri's incredible achievement.
