In a society where leadership is often attributed to men, Bishop David Abioye has emphasized that a woman can receive a divine calling into ministry, even if her husband is not called. He made this assertion while addressing a question about marital dynamics in ministry during a recent interview.
Responding to a query from a woman who claimed to have started her ministry before her husband, Bishop Abioye acknowledged the complexities involved. He stressed that it is a "practical reality" that God can call a woman independently, and such situations must be approached with wisdom and discretion.
"Let us understand the fact that a woman can be called while her husband is not called," Bishop Abioye said. He referenced biblical examples, such as Deborah, who effectively fulfilled her divine assignment while married. He urged men to accept this reality and support their wives, emphasizing that all glory ultimately belongs to God.
In a recent interview on Bishop Abioye YouTube Channel, he advised women with a ministerial calling to carry their husbands along to maintain harmony in the home. "While the man is the head of the home, the woman may be the head of the ministry. However, a balance must be maintained because of the social dynamics involved," he explained.
He further cautioned against a wife imposing authority on her husband, describing it as a delicate matter due to a man's natural ego. Instead, he recommended using respectful communication and consulting with a mature minister or mentor for guidance.
"When a husband feels left out, having a trusted mentor can help resolve misunderstandings and encourage mutual understanding," he added.
Bishop Abioye's remarks highlight the need for mutual respect and collaboration in marriages where one spouse is called to ministry, advocating for a balanced and understanding approach to such unique situations.
