WHAT HAPPENED?
Haaland had the Etihad Stadium concerned when he stayed down holding his knee, grimacing with pain, in the final minutes of Saturday's 4-0 Premier League win, but took to Instagram to reassure supporters after the match by posing with a piece of meat he was halfway through eating.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
City face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday evening, needing to turn around a 3-2 deficit after they were beaten at the Etihad on Tuesday. Haaland is set to play a crucial role and Pep Guardiola will hope his striker makes a full recovery in time for the game.
WHAT HAALAND AND GUARDIOLA SAID
Haaland's Instagram post featured the words "small feast after game", suggesting he is not too concerned about a potential injury.
Asked about his condition after the game, Guardiola said: "When he went down everyone was scared but he walked off smiling and the doctor didn't tell me bad news so hopefully he is fine."
WHAT NEXT FOR HAALAND AND MAN CITY?
Haaland recently signed a new nine-and-a-half year deal at City, keeping him at the club until 2034. He was also added by Guardiola to City's leadership group this week, proving what a crucial figure he is in their short-and long-term future.
