Former Arsenal star, Paul Merson, has insisted that Liverpool would win the Premier League title this season despite their recent draw with city rivals, Everton.
He even suggested that the Reds would have ended every hope of winning the title being nursed by Arsenal had they held on for a few more seconds and got the win over Everton in the Merseyside derby.
"The Premier League title race would've been all over," he said on Thursday via Metro.
"Don't get me wrong, Liverpool are still favorites to win it. But I have a feeling it won't be as straightforward as we all thought it would be a few weeks ago."
The Reds' 2-2 draw against Everton keeps them 7 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal and 10 points above third-placed Nottingham Forest.
Arne Slot's side would have to lose matches and draw one to give up their title race to Arsenal who would be hoping to continue winning.
Merson, however, believes that after the draw against Everton, Liverpool will start to feel a lot more heat.
"We've seen strange things happen in football, so if you're Arsenal, just keep going and pile the pressure on Liverpool," he added.
Merson would hope that things turn around in favour of his former team who have narrowly lost the title in the last season to Manchester City.
