Israel on Thursday warned Hamas that it would resume "intense military operations" if the terrorist group did not release three hostages by Saturday afternoon.
David Mencer, spokesperson for the Israeli government, issued the warning while speaking to reporters on Thursday.
"We're talking about these Israeli hostages arriving back in Israel," Mencer said.
"If that does not happen by Saturday noon, the ceasefire will end, and the IDF will resume intense military operations until Hamas is fully defeated."
Recall that Hamas had threatened to postpone the next hostage release, scheduled for Saturday, "until further notice," accusing Israel of breaking the ceasefire agreement.
Also, United States President Donald Trump had threatened to let "all hell break out" in Gaza if the hostages were not released as planned.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had also warned that Israel would resume "intense fighting."
