Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has expressed shock over Al Nassr's decision to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.
Arsene Wenger has shared his thoughts on Jhon Duran's high-profile move from Aston Villa to the Saudi Pro League last month.
Duran, 21, was starting to make a name for himself in the Premier League, scoring 12 goals in the first half of the season despite playing second fiddle to Ollie Watkins.
The Colombia international had grown frustrated with his limited playing time under Unai Emery, with clubs like Barcelona, West Ham, and Arsenal reportedly interested in signing him.
Wenger shared his thoughts on Duran's move, saying:
"Duran is a young player. He played at Aston Villa, where he was adored and loved.
"It was a surprise that during the season, from the Premier League, he moved to the Saudi Pro League."
However, Wenger was quick to praise Al-Nassr, Duran's new club, saying:
"But congratulations, they have done a good job there. For me, Saudi and Al-Nassr have great coaches.
"They have great players, they have a world figure number one with Cristiano Ronaldo, who is an example for every young player."
Al Nassr were linked to Nigeria and Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface but eventually chose to go for Duran at the last minute.
