Marcelo has revealed his future plans after retirement from professional football.
Just five days after announcing his retirement from professional football, Brazilian icon Marcelo has revealed his future plans.
The 36-year-old defender, who spent 16 seasons with Real Madrid, expressed his gratitude for his time in the game and shared his excitement for the new challenges ahead.
What Marcelo said
Marcelo, who won five Champions League titles and six La Liga championships with Real Madrid, emphasised that he never lost his passion for the game.
The Brazilian defender also shared his desire to spend more time with his family, particularly his wife and children.
"I did everything I had to do in football, thank God I didn't have any serious injuries, I played in the best team in the world and had the best teammates," Marcelo said on the Antena 3 programme El Hormiguero.
He continued, "I won some things, but there comes a time when you need new challenges; I'm not tired of football, but I wanted to do other different things too.
"I always played football with joy and not with responsibility. I always saw it as something to have fun, but there comes a time when you have to live," he said.
"I needed more time with my family. I'm going to take them to school, hang out more with my wife. Now I have more time to sit in an office, read and send emails," he added.
Marcelo also expressed his interest in exploring other creative pursuits, including art, music, and film production.
"I want to get into art, music, make movies with my wife. I've loved music since I was little. I know some singers and I would really like to produce a song for them, make a beat. It would be a dream for me," he said.
With an illustrious career that includes a 2013 Confederations Cup win with Brazil, Marcelo is excited to embark on this new chapter of his life.
