El-Rufai's son supports probe of father's administration

Mohammed El-Rufai, eldest son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed his support for the ongoing probe into his father's administration-provided it is conducted with fairness and objectivity.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Saturday, Mohammed emphasised the importance of accountability but cautioned against using investigations as a political tool.

According to him, the probe should focus on uncovering facts, not settling personal scores.

"If done for selfish reasons, such inquiries only harm progress," he said.

Mohammed, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, also addressed the rift between his father and his successor, Governor Uba Sani. He dismissed speculations of a deep-seated conflict, stating that media reports exaggerated the situation.

While acknowledging his dissatisfaction with the tensions between the two leaders, he asserted that reconciling them was not his responsibility. His primary focus, he said, remains serving his constituents and ensuring effective governance.

Mohammed claimed some unnamed persons were enjoying the misunderstanding between his father and Sani.

The lawmaker and his father have been openly critical of President Bola Tinubu's administration despite being APC members.
