Bayer Leverkusen captain Lukas Hradecky has claimed that Victor Boniface has earned respect from his teammates following his failed move to Al Nassr.
Boniface scored in Leverkusen's 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim over the weekend after only recovering from an injury.
The Super Eagles star was strongly linked with a move to Al-Nassr a few weeks ago, with the deal almost going through.
However, the Saudi Arabian side opted for Aston Villa star Jon Duran, which caused the Boniface deal to break down.
Lukas opens up on Boniface's failed move
Lukas Hradecky has clarified why Victor Boniface, a forward for Nigeria, contemplated joining Al-Nassr of the Saudi Pro League during the winter transfer window.
Regarding the rumours that Boniface would be signing a contract, Hradecky acknowledged that the striker's decision was heavily influenced by money.
According to Tag24, he said, "He was often injured. He hasn't earned that much money in his career. So, in part, probably economically, yes. It was a lot of money.
"It's remarkable how directly he came. That's the best medicine you can give the club and yourself. He has the respect of all of us."
The German team has benefited greatly from Boniface, who has scored nine goals in sixteen games in all competitions.
