Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Carter attended the Grammy Awards to support Beyoncé - who took home Album of the Year, Country Album of the Year and Best Country Duo Performance
Jay-Z was in tears over his wife Beyoncé's moving speech at the Grammy Awards 2025.
Beyoncé won the award for Best Country Album and Album of the Year for her Cowboy Carter record, which featured iconic songs like Texas Hold 'Em and American Requiem. The star was also nominated for Record of the. Year, Song of the Year and Best Country Song for Texas Hold 'Em. The star received many other nominations and won Best Country Duo Performance for II Most Wanted with Miley Cyrus.
Her husband, Jay-Z, and daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, attended the ceremony to support the music icon. When she won Best Country Album, both Queen Bey and Blue Ivy looked shocked while Jay immediately stood up to proudly clap for his wife. "Wow I really was not expecting this," the 43-year-old said. "I want to thank God, oh my God, that I'm able to still do what I love after so many years."
An emotional Jay watched on as she continued: "I'd like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it. I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists. And I just want to encourage people to do what they're passionate about, and to say, 'Stay persistent.'"
Beyoncé's well-deserved wins come as her husband faces a lawsuit alleging sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl at a 2000 awards show after-party. Jay-Z has denied the allegations, labeling them as an extortion attempt. The anonymous accuser, identified only as 'Jane Doe,' said the rape happened after she was driven party.
The lawsuit, originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York, listed Combs as a defendant but did not initially identify Jay-Z. But the now 37-year-old woman has refiled her complaint, naming the rapper under his real name, Shawn Carter. In a lengthy statement, the musician called the allegations "idiotic". My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a 'lawyer' named Tony Buzbee," Jay-Z said.
"What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!'
He continued: "These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case. This lawyer, who I have done a bit of research on, seems to have a pattern of these type of theatrics!"
