Man Utd in talks to secure last-minute deal to sign £70million star - Report

France-Nkunku

Manchester United this season have a constant theme recurring across managers. Every time they take one step forward, they find a way to fall back by 10 steps, meaning progress is very difficult to judge for the team.

Ruben Amorim's men lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace in the Premier League yesterday. It was a very disappointing performance from the Red Devils, who failed to create anything noteworthy against the Eagles.

It was quite revealing of the state of the club when Amorim decided to play Kobbie Mainoo as the number nine (false nine, of course) on the night and left both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee on the bench.

At this point, if Amad Diallo has a bad game like he did last night, there is absolutely no clarity on where the goals are going to come from and that is a problem that they need to solve.

We are on transfer deadline day and there is surely something Man Utd need to do today to try and add some firepower to the squad.

Now, as per Football Insider, Man Utd are in talks to secure a last-minute deal to sign talented Chelsea attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku.

Should Man Utd sign Christopher Nkunku?

The Frenchman is one of those players tailor-made to suit the system that Amorim deploys at Old Trafford and can play in any one of the front three roles.

The report mentions that Man Utd are holding talks over both a loan and a permanent deal, trying to figure out what works best in the limited time that is available.

Having shipped out both Rashford and Antony on loan, one would have to assume that the Red Devils have the salary space to sign the Blues player.

Nkunku is not a starter at Chelsea and the presence of Cole Palmer means he will almost never get a chance to play in his favored role at Stamford Bridge.

The ex-RB Leipzig man is too good a player to be wasting his career on the bench in London and will be a sure-shot starter at Old Trafford.

Chelsea value Nkunku at around £70million and he would be willing to continue his career at Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has the chance to spearhead Amorim's project at Old Trafford and he would surely be looking to jump at the opportunity.

With not long left to go before the transfer window slams shut, it's time for Man Utd to ramp up their efforts to sign Nkunku. It remains to be seen if they are able to reach an agreement with Chelsea and let's wait and see how it plays out in the time that is remaining.
