Chelsea sign Garnacho as Dorgu deal collapses

Alejandro Garnacho and Patrick Dorgu.

Manchester United are in for a hectic final three days until the clock strikes 11pm on Monday and the January transfer window slams shut. Lecce left-wing-back Patrick Dorgu and Arsenal centre-back Ayden Heaven are on their way to Old Trafford, while multiple exits could be in the works.

But the business end of a transfer window can be a cruel mistress, and nothing is guaranteed until it is.

Look away now... it's time to run through the worst-possible scenarios that United could endure at the end of the January transfer window.

Alejandro Garnacho joins Chelsea

United are willing to listen to offers for Alejandro Garnacho in a bid to ease the pressure of PSR and FFP after reckless spending in recent years.

However, while many supporters would reluctantly accept an exit for Napoli, the prospect of the 20-year-old winger joining Chelsea has not been received well.

Garnacho's form is on the rise, and losing him to a direct Premier League rival without recruiting a replacement would prove fatal in an already-fading season.

While his reported £60m fee would represent pure profit on the books, the overwhelming sentiment leans towards wanting the Argentine to stay put until the end of the campaign.

Ayden Heaven has left Arsenal for Man Utd.

Patrick Dorgu gets injured

Dorgu was named in the Lecce squad last night to face fellow Serie A strugglers Parma.

It offered the 20-year-old an opportunity to bid farewell to the Lecce supporters but has raised questions among concerned United supporters.

Given the Red Devils have agreed a £29m deal for Dorgu, many were bewildered at how the club allowed him to feature and risk picking up an injury that would put the deal in jeopardy.

The Dane appears to have evaded any serious issues from the crunch match, but the scenario has ramped up the nerves of a fanbase desperate for a new left-wing-back.

Marcus Rashford and Casemiro stay

Marcus Rashford and Casemiro are at the top of United's wage bill, yet neither have played much football at all under Amorim.

Rashford admitted he was "ready for a new challenge" in December, likely expecting to quickly secure an exit. With just three days of the winter window remaining, he continues to rot in the background.

Meanwhile, Casemiro's short substitute cameo against FCSB on Thursday were his first minutes in seven matches. He's earning £350,000 per week, and United are reportedly attempting to find suitors before the deadline.

Offloading both would do financial wonders for United ahead of a crucial summer transfer window. However, it currently looks ominously likely that both players will stay until then.
