Ruben Amorim has been sent a clear message over the possible return of Paul Pogba for Man United by Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil.
The French World Cup-winner will be free to return to playing football from March after serving an 18-month for failing a drugs test.
The midfielder is currently without a club, after terminating his contract with Italian side Juventus in November last year.
He recently hinted at a return to Old Trafford with a social media post that included a cartoon of himself in a Man United shirt alongside current Red Devils star Amad.
Another post then included a picture of the 31-year-old looking out across some water with the caption "Let's see what's coming".
McCoist and Brazil though do not believe that Amorim should be looking to add the Frenchman to his squad.
Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist was asked if he believed signing Pogba would show the club are not moving forward, with the former Rangers striker saying: "Yes. Absolutely no way don't even contemplate it. Move forward, move on. For me that would be a step back the way.
"I know sometimes you have to take a wee step back to move forward but no, not for me. Plus the fact I'm listening to the manager, and I don't know I'm guessing, but I'm not sure Pogba's his type of player. Do you think he is?"
Brazil then responded: "I don't know about Amorim at the moment but he would know about dressing rooms and who can upset people in dressing rooms and I'm afraid I think Paul comes into that. So I wouldn't be taking the chance."
Paul Pogba return a risk for Man United
By the time Pogba is eligible to play football again, it will have been almost a year-and-a-half since his last competitive appearance.
As a result there will be major questions about his match fitness when he returns, which would make signing him a strange move for Man United.
The Red Devils have already struggled as a result of some of their less mobile options in the centre of the park at times this season.
It would therefore be a strange move to bring in another such as Pogba, who is likely to face similar issues after so long out.
Given his relationship with the club has appeared tense in the past, as well as these recent issues, his return may not be overly welcomed by an already frustrated Man United fanbase either.
This may therefore be one option that Amorim and co. are better off avoiding as they look to put together a squad that can restore the club to some of its former glories.
