According to report, gospel music powerhouse, Mercy Chinwo, has opened up about the deeply personal challenges she's faced with her former manager and music promoter, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as Eezeetee.
In an emotional revelation shared on social media, Chinwo accused Eezeetee of orchestrating a smear campaign that questioned the paternity of her son.
The singer and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, welcomed their baby boy on October 28, 2023. However, controversy erupted online when someone insinuated that the child bore an uncanny resemblance to another gospel artiste, Nathanael Bassey, sparking wild speculation.
Chinwo has now alleged that Eezeetee originated and fueled those rumours, stating, "One of my major crimes was when I did a song with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey. Because this man hates Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, you went as far as sponsoring fake news about an innocent child, my son; and you said my son was not my son and you paid bloggers."
Chinwo's emotional outburst revealed not just the pain of dealing with falsehoods but also the toxicity of her professional relationship with Eezeetee.
She claimed that he frequently pressured her to share his personal grudges, saying, "Because you hate Pastor Jerry Eze, you won't want me to go for his event. The people you fight, I must fight them with you."
This is not the first time Chinwo has raised concerns about Eezeetee. Through her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, she addressed the ongoing legal battle over royalties. While Chinwo clarified that she hadn't filed any lawsuits against her ex-manager concerning her music catalogue, she accused him of playing the victim and being a "bully."
The feud has escalated to the courtroom. According to Leadership News, a Federal High Court in Lagos initially issued an arrest warrant for Eezeetee over alleged embezzlement of $345,000 in royalties. Although the warrant was later withdrawn, their public dispute has sparked questions about the ethics of gospel record labels and artists in the industry.
Despite the turmoil, Chinwo's faith remains unshaken. "You have bloggers, I have God," she declared, highlighting her resilience.
