The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, was confirmed on Monday night.
Nigeria's Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C alongside the likes of Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
AFCON 2025 hosts Morocco are in Group A alongside Mali, Zambia and Comoros.
Reigning champions Cote d'Ivoire are in Group F with Cameroon, Gabon and Mozambique.
Egypt is in Group B alongside South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe, while Senegal is in Group D with DR Congo, Benin, and Botswana.
2019 AFCON winners Algeria are in Group E with Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan.
The 2025 AFCON will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
The competition will take place in six cities over four weeks in Morocco.
2025 AFCON Group C
This group comprises Nigeria, Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania. Nigeria finished top of their group during the qualifying series with 11 points, while Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania all finished in second position in their respective groups.
The two teams to finish in first and second positions in this group will advance to the Round of 16 knockout stage. The remaining two teams will hope to qualify as one of the best losers.
Only Uganda in this group failed to participate in the last edition of the AFCON in Ivory Coast after they failed to secure qualification.
Speaking after the 2025 AFCON draw on Monday night, Wakanda FC coach, Orode Richard, gave his view on his expectations regarding the possible outcome of the permutation of Group C.
Richard said he expects Nigeria and Uganda to finish in the top two positions in the group ahead of Tunisia and Tanzania.
According to him, they are the only two teams in the group that lost just one match each during the qualifying series.
"Group C is an interesting group because all the teams finished very well during the qualification. The points they got during the qualifiers last year show that there are no more small teams in Africa," Richard said.
"In fact, I think Uganda was the only team in this group that finished the qualifiers with 13 points. They had more points than Nigeria and even Tunisia and Tanzania.
"I think they also lost one match just like Nigeria and ended up finishing second place in their group. The Ugandans did better than the rest teams during the qualifiers because they had more points.
"So, I would not be surprised if they end up advancing from this group to the knockout stage. I also expect the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify from this group.
"Their new coach, Chelle, is not new to African football, so I expect him to qualify Nigeria from this group.
"As for Tunisia and Tanzania, I think they would finish in third and fourth place. Both teams did well during the qualification but not as Nigeria and Uganda," he added.
When asked for the interesting matches to look forward to in the group stage of the 2025 AFCON, Richard added, "Morocco vs Mali, Ivory Coast vs Cameroon, Senegal vs DR Congo, and Nigeria vs Tunisia."
Explaining why he mentioned Nigeria vs Tunisia, he continued: "I included the Nigeria versus Tunisia game because both teams have a score to settle.
"Nigeria defeated Tunisia in the 2019 AFCON and Tunisia got their revenge in the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon. So they have another score to settle this time around, which makes it interesting."
