The Super Eagles legend has reflected on the AFCON draws, which placed Nigeria in group C.
Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo said Nigeria was unlucky in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations draw.
Nigeria was placed in Group C with Tunisia's Carthage Eagles, who failed to advance from the knockout stage in the last tournament held in Ivory Coast.
The other two opponents are East African teams: Tanzania and the 2016 CAF National Team of the Year, Uganda.
What Yobo said
Yobo expressed strong belief that Nigeria can clinch the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco.
Speaking to journalist Babatunde Ojora, Yobo emphasised the strength of the current squad.
"We have a good crop of a new generation of young players that have been together for a while, so, I don't think that understanding is a problem for them," he said.
Yobo pointed to the team's near success at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, where they finished as runners-up. He believes that experience will fuel their ambition in 2025.
"We have shown that at the last AFCON, we were very unlucky not to win. So, if we can build on that momentum, and build on it further, then I think we can get to the final and hopefully win it this time," Yobo stated.
The 2025 AFCON is set to start on December 21 and end on January 18, 2026, in Morocco.
