Bruno Fernandes Is Manchester United's Only World-Class Player - Karen Carney

Former England international Karen Carney has sparked debate by suggesting that Bruno Fernandes is the only "world-class" player in Manchester United's current squad, describing it as a "shocking" revelation.

Speaking after Manchester United's narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham on Sunday at Craven Cottage, Carney emphasized Fernandes' pivotal role in the Red Devils' setup. Lisandro Martinez scored the decisive goal for United, moving them to 12th in the Premier League table, but Carney believes Fernandes remains the standout performer.

"Manchester United fans don't even want to think about where the club would be without him. He's maybe the only world-class player in that team, which is shocking to think about," Carney said on TNT Sports.

Since joining United from Sporting Lisbon in 2020, Fernandes has contributed 59 goals and 47 assists in 183 Premier League appearances, cementing his status as a vital cog in the team.

Despite the win, United's form remains under scrutiny, with Ruben Amorim's side sitting 12 points adrift of the Champions League spots. Fernandes' consistent performances underline the gulf between him and his teammates, as Carney's comments spark fresh debates on the club's squad quality.
