Despite playing against Messi 44 times, Ramos named a surprise player as his toughest opponent.
Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos has named the toughest opponent of his illustrious career, and it's not who you might expect.
In a surprising revelation, the former Sevilla defender identified Barcelona legend Ronaldinho as the player who gave him the most trouble on the pitch.
Ramos, who has had his fair share of battles against top players, described Ronaldinho as "unstoppable" during his prime.
"For me, the most unstoppable is Ronaldinho. In his best time, hardly any defender could face him," Ramos said in a 2021 interview.
Interestingly, Ramos omitted Lionel Messi, whom he faced 44 times throughout his career, from his list of toughest opponents.
Instead, he mentioned other formidable forwards like Samuel Eto'o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who posed problems with their speed and physicality.
He said, "But there are others like Samuel Eto'o, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who could cause problems with their speed or physicality."
The Spaniard, who is currently without a club after leaving Sevilla in 2024, is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders in history.
