Jay-Z Reportedly Blocked 50 Cent from Performing at the Super Bowl

50 Cent Said Jay-Z Didn't Want Him Performing at the Super Bowl

Following recent allegations against Jay-Z, 50 Cent questioned whether the Super Bowl halftime show would go on as planned. Jay-Z's company, Roc Nation, produces the event. 50 Cent is familiar with their control over the halftime show, as he claims that they tried to prevent him from performing with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar in 2022.

50 Cent said he almost didn't appear at the Super Bowl because of Jay-Z

In 2022, 50 Cent performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. He said that he nearly didn't end up on the stage.

"They wanted to leave me out of it," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "They didn't want me there."

50 Cent clarified that by "them," he meant Roc Nation, Jay-Z's company. Ultimately, though, Eminem demanded that 50 Cent be a part of the show.

"Yeah, they didn't want me there," he said. "Eminem wouldn't do it without me. That's how I ended up on the show because he was not coming if I didn't do it. When that happens, you go, 'Damn, so you just lost Eminem because you didn't bring 50? Damn. All right. Bring 50 then.' But if it was up to them, they would not have me there. I'm the surprise. I'm not on the bill at all. But they couldn't get Em to do it without me."

50 Cent shared his thoughts on recent allegations against Jay-Z

In 2024, Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs were named in a lawsuit alleging they raped a 13 year old at a party in 2000. 50 Cent said he hoped Jay-Z's family was faring well.

"I just hope things are alright for him internally, at the crib," he said, per Us Weekly. "In the statement, they mentioned his daughter [Blue Ivy] being old enough [to understand]. She's about 13. So it's the same age as his kids what [they are] saying he did."

Ultimately, he didn't think Jay-Z's reputation would survive the allegations.

"It isn't what you did. It's what they said you did," he said. "The damage is already done by the allegation itself."

He questioned what will happen with the upcoming Super Bowl

Because Roc Nation produces the halftime show, 50 Cent questioned whether or not it would go on as planned this year. Kendrick Lamar will perform.

"I'm asking for Kendrick [Lamar]," 50 Cent said. "I'm just trying to figure if we're still doing everything."

Kendrick Lamar wears a hat and a leather jacket.

He predicted that the NFL would not want to continue working with Jay-Z.

"They will fall back ... the NFL, they won't necessarily be associated to that."

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the allegations would not impact the league's relationship with Roc Nation.
