Notorious terror kingpin, Bello Turji, set to surrender - CDS

Notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji has reportedly expressed a willingness to surrender, according to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.

Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today on Friday, General Musa revealed that recent military operations targeting Turji's network have severely weakened his position.

Musa explained that these operations resulted in the elimination of Turji's second-in-command and several key lieutenants. The sustained pressure has forced Turji to release many hostages and consider laying down arms.

However, Musa acknowledged the challenges the military faces in tracking Turji, citing his unpredictable movements as a major obstacle. "They (terrorists) are within the communities; the people know them. Sometimes, when information reaches us, it's already too late, and he has moved," he said.

Despite these difficulties, the military's recent successes have significantly disrupted Turji's operations. "We have taken out his second-in-command, as well as most of his lieutenants. This has left him with no choice but to release his captives," Musa stated. "Now, he is beginning to indicate that he is ready to surrender."

While welcoming this development, General Musa emphasized the importance of accountability. He stressed that those responsible for acts of violence and the deaths of innocent citizens must face justice.
