They have disrespected him - Finidi George slams Sevilla for mistreating Iheanacho

Super Eagles legend Finidi George defended Kelechi Iheanacho amid struggles in Sevilla.

Former Super Eagles coach Finidi George has criticised Sevilla for their treatment of Kelechi Iheanacho, stating that they have barely given him time to settle.

Iheanacho's situation

The 28-year-old joined Sevilla as a free agent in the summer but has struggled for form and game time. He has only registered 11 appearances this campaign in which he scored three goals.

Iheanacho did not make the matchday squad in each of Sevilla's past five games, and Los Nervionenses' head coach's recent comment suggests his game time situation would not improve.

As Pulse Sports reported, Garcia Pimenta admitted to being puzzled about the Nigerian's lack of form, but he dismissed suggestions that Iheanacho is overweight.

What Finidi said

Speaking in an interview with Africa Foot, the former Real Betis winger suggested that the former Leicester striker return to England to find his best form, as he is been done a disservice by Sevilla.

"I think they have disrespected him in many ways," he said. "They expected a lot from him when he arrived, but it's still early days, and he hasn't been given enough time to settle in.

"In my opinion, he should leave the club if any good offers come along. He is 28 and still has a lot to offer, but he needs to be at a place where he is truly appreciated.

"A return to England would be a great option, but he could also explore opportunities in new environments."
