Israel vs Hamas: Names and images of 33 hostages to be released emerges

The names of the 33 hostages set to be released by Hamas has emerged.

The names and portraits of the of the 33 hostages were made public by an Israeli commentator, Hananya Naftali, via his verified X handle on Friday.

Naftali disclosed that none of the hostages' family members know who would be alive, injured, or dead when they are released.

He wrote: "BREAKING: The names of 33 hostages set to be released in phase one of the ceasefire are now public.

"Families are holding their breath-no one knows who will return alive, injured, or dead. This is just the beginning of weeks of anguish. Israel needs your prayers."

There is an agreement for the release of the Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

The agreement is scheduled to take effect on Sunday.

Meanwhile, United States, US, President-elect, Donald Trump, has claimed credit for the agreement which included a ceasefire between Israeli forces and Hamas militants.

Trump claimed that pressure from his team ensured that the agreement was reached amid negotiations for the release of the hostages.

The agreement outlines an initial 42-day ceasefire during which the 33 hostages are expected to be released, alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza's population centers.

A second phase is proposed to negotiate a permanent resolution to the conflict.
